Labiaplasty / Labioplasty

Technically, labiaplasty refers to plastic surgery performed on the labia, but informally it is used for many different, closely-related procedures, many of which we offer at The Cosmetic Surgical Center. If you have specific concerns about your anatomy, we can recommend the appropriate procedure for you during a confidential consultation. Please call or email us today to schedule a consultation.

Here are some brief descriptions of procedures commonly called "labiaplasty / labioplasty":

Labia Minora Reduction or Reshaping – Labiaplasty may be performed on the labia minora (inner labia) to reduce their size or reshape them. Labiaplasty can correct the labia minora if they are protrusive beyond the labia majora, or if they cause discomfort in tight-fitting clothes, during sexual activity, or have stretched due to childbirth.

Labia Majora Surgery – Labiaplasty of the labia majora (outer labia) is performed to change their size. Most commonly, they are reduced because they are uncomfortably large or because of uneven or asymmetrical shaping.

Clitoral Hood Refinement – Sometimes the hood of skin that covers the clitoris may prevent it from being stimulated during intercourse. Clitoral hood refinement is designed to increase a woman's sexual pleasure. You can learn more about clitoral hood refinement on our What is clitoral hood reduction? page.

Monsplasty – The mons, also called the mons pubis or mons venus, is the area directly above a woman's external genitalia. Mons is Latin for mound and for most women this area is slightly raised. Women with excessive skin left after weight loss or due to genetics may desire monsplasty for a smoother, more feminine appearance.

Mons Reduction – Mons reduction is similar to monsplasty, but uses liposuction for reduction. This procedure is appropriate when there is excess fatty tissue under the skin, but no overlying skin flap.
